It is often annoying dealing with different types of cables connecting different electronic devices. However, unfortunately there are many different types of cables around and manufacturers have not been able to agree on a simple standard which can accommodate most devices. Let’s just take my camera for example. There’s USB cable supplied with the camera which allows for connecting the camera with the computer. The same cable is also able to charge the camera. The problem is that even though the USB plug is well standardized, the plug which fits into the camera is not really well standardized at all. I do have a few USB cables lying around. However, except for the one that came with the camera, one of the cables will fit into the camera. The plugs on the other cables are either too thin or too thick.
